We have some amazing authors in our school! Once a term our talented writers get the opportunity to show off all their skills in our We Are Authors Week. Here is a celebration of the activities we have done and some of the brilliant work completed during these weeks.
We Are Authors Week
Throughout our English Enrichment Week, we studied the short animated film ‘The Present’ by Jacob Frey.
We created comic strips of the film and wrote new scenes for the film. Here are some examples of our best pieces of work:
World Book Week
Our World Book Week was a great success. Not only did we have fun dressing up, we got to learn all about famous authors. Here are some of the activities we did during the week!
In reception we focused on the author Julia Donaldson. We thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Spinderella', it was a great book and taught us that we should always try hard with our learning!
We also laughed a lot at the fact that all the teachers dressed up as characters from our reading books. "It's so funny Miss Tait is now the character Kipper she has a wig on and we have to call her Kipper!" exclaimed Sienna, Maple class.
Amna Abbasi enjoyed, "...how the boy got smarter and smarter from eating all the books until he was smarter than his teacher!".
Ruby said, "I liked the Dr Seuss book called The Cat in the Hat because it made me laugh when Thing 1 and Thing 2 went crazy and wrecked the house!"
"For World Book Week we looked at the book Groosham Grange by Anthony Horowitz. We wrote a letter to him and I told him I loved his work because it was funny and made me laugh," Savannah, Rowan Class.
“I really want to read his dark materials trilogy now!” Reha Siyani, Beech class.
