Yr 6 Residential Trip to the Mill Rythe Activity Centre in Havant, Hayling Island. July 2014 - Blog Page
 ___________

day 1

09/07/14
We arrived at midday following a coach journey involving one stop for an emergency toilet stop (someone didn't follow our instructions to go before we left!). The sun was shining so all was forgotten. We had lunch with the ducks and then it was time to check in to our rooms.

Then we split into our groups for our first activities, climbing, sensory trail and kayaking. Everyone had a great time kayaking despite getting a bit soggy. Miss Gumbs had to clean 2 baths out that had been filled with muddy wet clothes following the sensory trail.

We are just getting ready for our camp fire now before bed......and hopefully some sleep!

day 2

10/07/14
.....Started at 5am! No teachers on strike here! Playing basketball and games since 7am......only school up. Bring on breakfast please.

day 2 update

10/07/14
We had a Big  breakfast of sausages, beans and scrabbled egg and cereal if we wanted too. Now we were ready for the day!

First up sensory trail and kayaking followed by initiative exercises. We learnt how important team work was and communicating with each other to achieve the goal.

Then we had pizza and salad for lunch before going back out for raft building. Ultimate Legends (Kayon, Holly, Samina, Damilola, Seaiwesh, Sahil, Michai, Mariam, Tyrhys, Rayan, and Noel) were the first to make their raft and try it out in the pool, unfortunately it sank but much fun was had by all!

Then we split into 2 groups for archery or orienteering. Archery took some skill but others managed a bulls eye (see photo).

Now we are heading to the shop and getting ready for the disco tonight. The teachers are holding out for a better night sleep as everyone is exhausted.

See you all tomorrow!

day 3

All the children had to be woken up this morning, so luckily we got a bit of a lie-in. We then had the chore of making sure all the children packed and cleared their room. Apparently the socks, pants, jackets and wellies that were found in rooms belonged to no one!

All activities are finished and we are chilling out in the sun before we leave. We hear it is raining in London so it will be hard to leave the sun.
